Banmai Chaynam
About This Spot
Stepping into Banmai Chaynam feels like wandering into a lovingly preserved snapshot of Thailand’s past, where every corner holds a story waiting to unfold. Nestled on the outskirts of Pakchong, this unique blend of restaurant and museum invites visitors to slow down and savor moments both culinary and cultural. The atmosphere is warmly nostalgic, punctuated by vintage treasures from the mid-20th century — from old toys to classic cars — creating a playful yet contemplative space that encourages exploration.
The pace here is unhurried and inviting, perfect for those who delight in discovery as much as in savoring good food. Crossing a quaint little bridge to enter the main dining area adds a touch of whimsy, setting the tone for an experience that’s as much about the ambiance as it is about the meal. The layout is spacious, almost like a labyrinth of memories held together with friendly service and subtle details, though visitors are gently reminded to watch their step and take their time navigating the grounds.
The menu complements this thoughtful setting by grounding traditional Thai flavors in generous portions meant to be shared and enjoyed over lively conversation. Imagine the sweet comfort of mango sticky rice perfectly balancing richer, savory plates like fried chicken glazed with fish sauce and the vibrant freshness of stir-fried morning glory. Seasonal coconuts and fragrant shrimp paste fried rice punctuate the meal with bursts of tropical authenticity, while the mix of familiar and less common dishes invites an eager appetite and a spirit of curiosity.
Banmai Chaynam thrives on creating genuine human moments, whether through the warmth of its staff or the joyful discovery of its vintage collections. Photographers and families alike find endless charm in the space’s layered ambiance, where the past and present meet. It’s a place to get comfortably lost for an afternoon, letting the combination of thoughtful design and home-style cooking quietly draw you deeper into its story.

This is clearly created by a person with more space than he knows to do with it.its filled with all sorts of interesting display. Food is generally pretty good. Plus the environment. I would strongly encourage all in Khao yai to make this a 'must visit'. We didn't stay in the hotel, just the cafe.

This place is decorated with items from the 1950s and 60s — toys, cars, and so many other things. The food is also delicious, especially the pork chop, which is tender and flavorful, and the prices are reasonable too.

Very good, brilliant food, would visit again. It is very good as it has a Michelin star and also a swimming pool.it it however difficult to get round in a wheelchair. Be aware of the bridge and ensure kids go with an adult.

Photogenic restaurants and hotels, decorated in a vintage style collecting various kinds of stuff from the 80s to 90s. The complex of the restaurant is quite complicated and a bit confusing. Elderly and handicaps should be careful of steps. The staff are nice and friendly. Food is good at portioning.

Absolutely loved this place! The museum area is stunning, amazing collections and so many cool spots for photos. You can easily get lost here for an hour just exploring. The food is very good, affordable, and there’s a wide variety to choose from. They also have an English menu, a nice café, and you even get to cross a little bridge to enter, which adds to the charm. I brought my family here and they absolutely loved it, they didn’t even want to leave! An overwhelmingly great place to visit with family and friends.

From the front, this restaurant already looks stunning. It's unique, filled with antiques and vintage collectibles. The place is huge, located right by the river. The menu has a wide selection, and everything is delicious. I was very satisfied with my meal here.

This vintage-themed spot in Khao Yai is a real gem. The place is packed with classic memorabilia, so it’s an awesome place to wander around and snap photos. The food is seriously delicious too(Michelin star 2025), making it a must-visit when you’re in the area. Just a heads-up: if you’re not dining in, there’s an entry fee. And parking is pretty limited, so hopefully you get lucky and grab a spot.
